GRIP as a CDSS

Clinical decision support systems

Over the years, clinical decision support systems (CDSS) have proven to be able to improve clinical decision making in certain well-chosen areas. We think that glucose control in critically ill patients is another suitable field in which computers can help to improve healthcare.

GRIP was designed to help in glucose control, and recently it also manages potassium control. It is currently (January 2007) implemented on 3 intensive care units. More information about initial results and acceptance is published in the following paper: Vogelzang M, Zijlstra F, Nijsten MWN.
